This Charter describes the ethical foundations, the basic rules having legal value and the commitments of BePangea, of the producers, buyers and Collectives.
It is completed by the Agreements.
Purposes and commitments of BePangea
BePangea is a non-profit Organization working in association with NGOs (NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS) and active Organizations in the humanitarian and sustainable development.
She sets up solutions of purchase and sale of products or services, as an alternative to the traditional trading, moving closer producers and buyers with the collaboration de local collectives working in networks.
BePangea try :
- to supply to the producers fair prices,
- to work in an united and respectful approach,
- to support the producers specially if they are discriminated and to open markets to those who are marginalized,
- to establish near links between producers and buyers,
- to act with local populations for the logistic operations and the supervision,
- to guarantee to the buyers prices nearby those of the market,
- to support actions of NGOs on the ground of production,
- to value the local potentials,
- to not export products necessary for the local or national markets,
- to facilitate the producers who adopt a respectful social behaviour, in particular regarding the child labor,
- to facilitate the producers who adopt modes of production environment-friendly,
- to facilitate the sustainable development.
BePangea make a commitment :
- to act in a non speculative way ;
- to redistribute profits realized to the discriminated producers, to the NGOs, to the Collectives and to humanitarian aids or development;
- to publish - as much as possible - the information about prices and production on Internet, in relation to each one of the deals in a concern of transparency.
Purposes and commitments of producers
The producers using BePangea make the commitment to respect the terms of this Charter.
They try :
- to work in a united and respectful approach of the other participants,
- to adopt a respectful social behaviour of their employees and their families,
- to adopt if necessary respectful behaviour about child labor or likely to improve their situation,
- to adopt means of production environment-friendly or likely to limit gradually the negative impacts.
They make the commitment:
- not to sell products prohibited according to the Agreements of BePangea,
- to respect the Agreements for Producers of BePangea,
- to declare scrupulously the characteristics, the origins and the exact qualities of their products,
- not to sell products as retailer without having declared the origin and the detail of the deal (in that case, the operation must respect the rules of equity described in this Charter),
- to participate honestly in the mechanism of transparency about prices and information for the buyers and the consumers,
- to respect scrupulously the emitted conditions if they are receiving certifications,
- to correspond to the current regional social criteria in employment,
- to correspond to the current national standards about environment.
Purposes and commitments of buyers
By getting products on BePangea, the buyers facilitate the development of a respectful and non-speculative business and participate in actions of development.
They try :
- to work in a united and respectful approach of the other participants,
- to make offers corresponding to market prices or superiors when certified products are concerned,
- to transfer to their final customers the informations published by BePangea,
- to work in an way of transparency of the prices,
- to not speculate on products stemming from BePangea.
They make the commitment:
- to authorize BePangea to publish on Internet the detail of the prices in all the stages of the transaction, until the sale which is made
- Without any information on the packaging under which he resells the product,
- Or with an information on the packaging under which he resells the product if he wishes to spread the politics of transparency up to the end.
Purposes and commitments of Collectives
The regional or local Collectives try to integrate to the staff local participants without distinction of race, religion, caste or sex.
As representatives of BePangea, they respect scrupulously the Charter and
the Agreements.
